Energy labeling

Certification energy label : is the label showing the energy saving symbol (also known as Vietnamese Energy Star).

Certified energy labels are stuck to vehicles and equipment circulating on the market when their energy efficiency level reaches or exceeds the minimum energy efficiency level (MEPS) prescribed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade from time to time

The shape, size and color are specified as follows:

Comparative energy label: 

Comparative energy label: is a label affixed to means and equipment circulating in the market with different levels of energy efficiency corresponding to five energy efficiency levels (from one star to five stars).

Class 5-star energy-saving vehicles and equipment are very energy-efficient.

Comparative energy labels include the following types: 

Comparative energy label is defined in terms of shape, size and color as follows: 

• Announcement  code : is the code issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to serve the management, specified by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the certificate of energy saving products.
• Name / code of product : is the name or product code of the enterprise registered for labeling and is issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the energy-saving product certificate.
• Manufacturer:  The name of the organization / enterprise that produces the registered energy product.
• Importer : The name of the organization / enterprise importing products registered for the energy label (only applicable to importers).
• The section shows the assessment of energy efficiency (Energy Efficiency Level) : The amount of energy consumed per hour of operation of products of the same type but made by different manufacturers is divided into 5 intervals correspond to the number of stars on the label (from 1 star to 5 stars). The level of energy saving (energy efficiency level) is determined by the Ministry of Industry and Trade by evaluating the test results of a product's energy efficiency indicator and shown in the energy-saving product certificate.
• Product  energy consumption: energy consumption value is calculated in kWh / year.
• Other information : are specified in detail in the Decision to issue the Certificate suitable for each specific product.
  
  

Energy label includes many types for each item: 

On March 9, 2017, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 04/2017 / QD-TTG approving the list of energy labels, applying the minimum energy efficiency level and the implementation roadmap for equipment.

Each vehicle and equipment will have Vietnam Standard (TCVN) applied as a basis for determining whether a new specific item must be energy efficient and labeled as energy. 

In each TCVN will have a table of energy efficiency levels. If there are energy efficiency levels in TCVN 1 to 5, that means and equipment are allowed to label COMPARE energy. If the TCVN only has a minimum energy efficiency level (MEPS) or a high level (HEPS), only a CONFIRMED energy label should be marked. 

For example in TCVN 11844: 2017 LEDs - Energy efficiency have the following table: 

As such, LEDs only have a minimum or high energy efficiency level so they are only labeled CONFIRMED.

In TCVN 7898: 2018 Hot storage water heater - Energy efficiency has the following table: 

Thus the air conditioner has 5 energy efficiency levels so it should be labeled CONFIRMED energy
